Recipe of the Day: Chia Jam

Hydrating and digestive jam to help you through your Ramadan
⁃ staying hydrated and feeling of fullness
⁃ Getting your omega 3 and anti oxidants to help you when your body detoxes while you fast ( autophagy)
⁃ Taming your sweet tooth without the harmful effects of sugar
⁃ Good for teeth and gum health
⁃ Easy add on to your yoghurts/ breakfasts/ puddings / kids spreads etc
⁃ Vegan, diabetic and weight-loss friendly

Ingredients:
– Mixed Berries 2 cups
– Water 0.25 cup
– Xylitol sugar 2 tablespoon
– Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
– Chia seeds 3 tablespoon

Methods:
1. In a saucepan add the berries and water and cook for 1-2 minutes before trying to break up the berries.
2. After at least 5 minutes of cooking or once you see the berries really soften add the vanilla essence and xylitol sugar (You can also use stevia drops about 7-10 drops) cook for another 2 minutes
3. Add the chia stir in well and cook for another 2 minutes
4. Turn off the heat and allow to cool for 10 mins before putting it in a jar

Tips:
– You can store in your fridge for up to 2 weeks . Always use a clean spoon when using the jam.
– You can use stevia as a sweetener, or simply enjoy it without any sugar.
