How did your journey begin with training?
My love for working out and exercising was with me ever since I was a kid. i used to watch workout programs on TV and do aerobics in front of the mirror. When I grew up and started working and became independent, my gym bag was always with me in the car and I used to squeeze in my training right before work, or right after it if I couldn’t wake up early.
Were you training during your pregnancy?
In the first 4 months, I personally found it very hard to train, and I had no energy to move at all. But soon after, I regained my energy and started moving again. My workouts were all done at home and with the use of body-weight only, and of course I used to walk on a daily basis. My food was usually healthy but i never forbid myself from anything while i was pregnant.
Movement to avoid during pregnancy?
1- Any move that requires you to be lying down on your back for a long time should be avoided
2- Any strong and challenging workout that requires abs and lower back
3- Any move that might challenge your balance (to avoid falling)
Other than that, if you’re stable, you can do whatever you want!
How long do i wait to train after giving birth?
Don’t wait too long, after 40 days, you can start walking and lightly jogging. You can also start resistance training without extra weights. I would recommend that you avoid crunches and sit-ups in the first 3 months especially if you gave birth cesarean.
What’s your advice to girls that gave birth and want to go back to training?
Always listen to your body, especially when it comes to moves related to your abdominal area. If you feel any kind of pain, you should give yourself more time to heal. Now obviously, all workouts related to thighs and arms, you can go right ahead. Just be careful not to be sweaty in windy weather.
